There are various ways to understand this book and its value. First, if you are looking for detailed strategic and tactical techniques, then you are looking in the wrong place. Consider instead the readily available books by Seemiller, Heaton, McAffee, Hodges. On the other hand, if you're interested in individual perspectives and gaining from those insights (be it tactical or psychological) then this book offers some interesting views. "Ping Pong for Fighters" may not be the most sophisticated, nor does it claim to elevate you to the level of Ma Long (well, actually, does any book?). Tahl discusses his own personal achievements so enjoy what he says and his experiences. Incorporate what you might find appropriate to your style of play.Anyway, it's an easy read. Enjoy it.

“Ping Pong for Fighters” should be required reading for any table tennis player from beginner to professional. The legendary Tahl Leibovitz, who began playing the sport as a teenager at the Queens Boys and Girls Club and became a Paralympic gold medalist, shares the secrets of his extraordinary success as an elite table tennis player. Think Yoda, Socrates and Yogi Berra rolled into one. The book combines practical advice on technical skill development with insightful wisdom on tactics, strategy and mental toughness. A few sections I found particularly helpful were “Your Past Doesn’t Determine your Future,” “Scouting Out your Opponents,” “The Fight Against Ourselves,” and “Advice from Champions.” I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in raising their table tennis game to a higher level.

I have watched Tahl play, as well as listened to him analyze his game (and that of others) over a number of years. He knows the game, and himself, very well: what works and what doesn't in most any given situation. His advice is well taken by most any table tennis player looking to improve the mental, as well as the physical, aspects of their game.

Great Advice on the Mental Side of your game. Clearly explained with good Examples and Details from past tournaments. This book has helped me a lot to keep focused and confident at the table during tournaments and club matches. I feel that I am a now different player from what I have learned in this book.

Great collection of tips and experiences for those wanting to improve their table tennis game. I especially appreciated the content covering the often overlooked mental side of the sport. The book isn't too long and it's easy to read but the information contained is gold.

This kind of a book has been long awaited for and Tahl is just the guy to do it justice. Everything is considered here--strategy, mental toughness, technique, attitude. It's a wonder Tahl can fit so much training into a hundred and some pages. This is an insightful and powerful book appropriate for anyone who has played, do play, or will play, the sport of ping pong.

It is a short book with solid tips for any competitive player.

I was disappointed at how short of a book this is. While there are some decent guidelines within and it addresses more of the mental game than the technical, it is light in reading material and generalized in suggestions. I think I read the whole thing in an hour. The pages are double spaced to bring it to 124 pages or so (I don't recall how many exactly without looking, but it was not much) so in reality this "book" is only about 60 pages of written material in my opinion. Not worth $10. I purchased it based on previous reviews, but none of the previous reviews mentioned the lack of content unfortunately.
