There was a terrible mistake-Wayside School was built with one classroom on top of another, thirty stories high! (The builder said he was sorry.) Lexile measures range from below 200L for early readers and text to above 1600L for advanced readers and materials. When used together Lexile measure help a reader find books at an appropriate level of challenge, and determine how well that reader will likely comprehend a text. When a Lexile text measure matches a Lexile reader measure, this is called a "targeted" reading experience. The reader will likely encounter some level of difficulty with the text, but not enough to get frustrated. This is the best way to grow as a reader - with text that's not too hard but not too easy.',

if you read the begining you say this is an average book. But the last 20 chapters you can not be human if you dont cry the slightest bit. Nobody dies. A twist ending. The main thing is to notice how much Bradly Changes. When he has to go to the barber and not school at the end and clara leaves the note dont read the not or you will cry yourself to sleep that night. If clara was not in this story I would have not cryed or liked the book. Bradley (at the end) is most likely the sweetest person ever.A boy in the girls bathroom is not the main plot (a girl also goes in the boys bathroom but that is a miner detale to the story). My favorite part is when Bradley doesnt fight jeff and realizes peace is the best way to go. Get at least 20 tissues at the last 5 chapters. Later in life if you need to cry to somehow acomplish something remmber this book. Bradley sister is my least favorite character because she makes fun of bradley for everything about him she doesnt like. This book i say is for 6+
It’s a bit more grown up than I remember. My son still gets a kick out of the book I read as a child, but there’s a lot of very dark humor to be aware of. A reference to a teacher eating a teacher (who was changed into an Apple), a child that locked her cat in a closet, mysterious happenings at the wacky wayside school. I probably would recommend ages 8-10
"Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar was a good book. It has 30 weird stories about every teacher and student in the 30th story. I like this book because it was silly and funny. In one story, this girl was the fastest drawer in the class. Her name was Bebe Gunn! This book is good for kids that don't like reading because it has short stories. It's very funny. Kids should just like this book." - A fifth grader at my school (who does not enjoy reading)
The book arrived in good condition, however the reason for the 3-star review is that the cover used to advertise the book here on Amazon is misleading. Having been a fan of this book since childhood, I wanted the cover (and the original illustrations within the book itself) to be the ones I grew up with. I specifically sought out someone selling this version of the book, and instead received a much more recent print of the book with an entirely different cover art and interior illustrations done by a new artist. Happy to have the book still, but disappointed.
This is a good book because most books are about kids who are bullied but this book is about a bully except he learns not to be a bully.I think that it's an awesome book and you should read it. THE END of review thingie.
When I was a kid in school I used to love this book. This book was very popular in school, almost every time you wanted to re-read this book you had to wait because it was almost always checked out.
This book came highly recommended by everyone I know. I bought it for my reading-shy 8 year old for Christmas. Not only did he read it, but my 11 year old and 6 year old also enjoyed it. He got the series for his birthday and it was one of the presents that he was most excited about.
My third grade teacher read this book to the class. Everyday she read one chapter. It was sooo memorable to me...that I just had to read ot to my 7 year old son. I absolutely love this book. It teaches soo many beautiful things, from love, to kindness, to friendship. I will keep this boom o my kindle forever and ever!!
